Session

The International Session on Jewish Art is a unique event in Russian academic scholarship. Inviting specialists from various fields every four years, we discuss new approaches to addressing issues of national and supranational art. The history of the Jewish people allows us to explore and synthesize the process of collecting artistic idioms, motifs, and themes scattered across the globe in ancient and modern world art. The session forms an independent component of the project, which is being developed based on the existing Seminar. This component opened in May 2021 during the "Week of Jewish Art at the State Institute of Art" and the exhibition "The East of Reuben Mazel," which won the Museum Initiatives and Exhibition Projects Competition of the Russian Jewish Congress Charitable Foundation.
