Session

The International Session on Jewish Art is a unique event in Russian academic scholarship. Bringing together specialists from various fields every four years, we discuss new approaches to addressing issues of national and supranational art. The history of the Jewish people provides the basis for exploring and synthesizing the process of collecting artistic idioms, motifs, and themes scattered across the globe in ancient and contemporary world art. The session forms an independent project area, which is being developed based on the existing Seminar. This area opened in May 2021 during the "Week of Jewish Art at the State Institute of Art" and the exhibition "The East of Reuben Mazel," which won the Museum Initiatives and Exhibition Projects Competition of the Russian Jewish Congress Charitable Foundation.
